Rental Managers, Inc. - RMI

Rental Managers, Inc. - RMI - is the management company that manages the condo community that I live in in Birmingham, AL. I have had to do their jobs, have to call them to wonder who is on my deck, and when I call, no one seems to know what the other is doing. Rental Managers, Inc. - RMI - is hands down the single worst condo management company you can come across.

Today, I woke up to ladders clanking around on my deck. Then, I thought I heard my furniture being moved around on my deck. Groggy, yet curious, I slid out of my bed to peek out of my blinds. To my dismay, surprise and fury, there were some random Latinos climbing up to my roof from my deck. After considering what the hell was going on while still in a state of sleepy haze, I wobbly put on some clothes, shook out the cobwebs and headed downstairs.

After reaching my downstairs, I find that they are climbing up to the gutters to relieve them of the mass amounts of pine straw that gets stuck in them. To do so, they are taking the chunks and throwing it down on my deck - on top of my tomatoes, chairs, table and grill. So, why in the hell did they have to move my grill if they are just going to throw the straw on top of it? I haven't a clue. I watched in horror as these two strangers invaded my privacy. I then opened the door and began asking what they were doing. Latino one looks confused, and looks at his cohort who then has to translate. Figures.

I asked them, "I have a front door, why didn't you try using it?!"

Both of them looked at me, dumbfounded, and the one that knows English replies, "I'm sorry, I didn't know."

That's when all hell broke loose. You see, the last thing you want to do is to piss me off in the mornings, and this isn't the first time that this Birmingham, AL Rental Managers, Inc company, also called, RMI, has done something like this to me, and it's also the reason why I consider it is the worst condo and rental management company in Birmingham.

Since our decks are considered "common areas," they feel that they can have anyone come up and do what they want to them without notifying the individual first. Not everyone works at a regular job here, and there are some retired people that live here, too. So, had I known that my deck could be meddled with, furniture moved around and my planter displaced at any moment, I probably wouldn't have put much out there but stuff that can be easily replaced and not broken.

Like I said before, this isn't the first time that this has happened. Twice before, I was sitting innocently on my couch when random people were coming up on my deck, sneaking around and looking a tad suspicious. I was worried, but then they left. The second time, I was a little peeved and calmly walked outside with my sheathed Katana by my side. After a short chat after he quickly walked off my deck, I told him that I do have a front door and next time, it would be nice if he used it. He did just that, he used the door the next time.

But, for the amount of money and the constant hassle, RMI - Rental Managers, Inc. has got to be the worst rental and condo management company ever. No common courtesy and they just don't seem to know what common courtesy is.
